Britannica Encyclopedia
This is an on-line encyclopedia which is called Britannica. It was written in February 2016. It was funded in the Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. It was written inform the general public about important information of Britannica.In the first section, information includes main points about the history of Britannica which is a Scottish - founded, now American company best known for publishing. Edinburgh where the company was founded in the 18th century.
In the second section, Colin Macfarquhar and Andrew Bell formed
a partnership to create a new book that combined the new spirit of scholarship. Three volume work edited by William Smellie and published in 1768. Sears Roebuck bought trademark and publication rights in 1920.
In the third section, The 12th and 13th editions were published in 1921-1922 and 1926. The headquarters of company moved to Chicago in 1930s. William Benton had the ownership in 1943 until his death in 1973. The Benton Foundation managed the Britannica until it was sold to Jacqui Safra in 1996.
